Post by Nataliey on Fri Aug 27, 2010 3:10 pm

Not sure where to put this really but seen as though its for the betta tank thought put it here.

Iv been looking on the web where the cheapest place i can get 18"x10" lid with a light for my clear seal tank, anyone know where i can get one from thats not gonna cost me an arm and a leg? Cant remember where i saw it but the cheapest one iv seen is £39.

Isn't it amazing what they charge for the lighted hoods. Unbelievable(except for seeing it)!

Can your LFS not get them in? Im lfs get the lids and tank separate dont know how much they cost though. Or you could use a condensation tray and just put a clip on light over the top of it.

Just been looking again and found one for £17 not including p+p and il have to buy a light tube for it. Not bad. The plastic clear seal lid iv got now is doing my head in as when i have to feed the bettas the water drops off and spoils the males bubble nest!

My 6g is a Clearseal tank as well & the lid annoys me. I have a wee LED light for that particular tank and its not ideal but its ok because the room the tank is in is really well lit. I hate taking the lid off to feed the fish because it drips, leaves water stains etc. Drives me insane.

mine havent got lids but I used to have an overhead light that I just put on now and then. Are the tanks too small for a condensation tray?

That's the only prob with Clearseal tanks. On my one that size I just use a condensation tray and have it near natural light because i'm too stingy to spend much lol!

I use some plastic canvas cut to the shape and a clip-on light that came with my tank. Cost me about £1 :D
Have to top up the tank each week with the water change but I really like it as a lid, fits well, doesn't gather condensation and lets the light in - and so cheap! Smile
