Good choice! Black ghosts are beautiful fish IMO but once, i had a kinda "pond" in my garden (but we removed it) and bought 2 black ghost knife fish and they were pretty aggressive with the other fish... is it normal?
Re: Its here. All 150G of it.
From what ive read they are quite timid of other fish and can only be kept with peaceful fish but alot of places do say there aggressive to other BGKF.

Re: Its here. All 150G of it.
I went to another LFS today and the fish are going to work out cheaper than i though
2 gold sevs = i need to get for and wait for 2 to pair which will be £18
5 redhead tapajo geophagus = £22.95
3 bns plus fry = already go them
1 black ghost knife fish = £10.95
1 female Nicaragua Cichlid = £5.95
1 lima shovelnose = £24
So altogether about £80 so still alot of saving to do.

Yh it was about that because i thought the sevs would be £10 each not under £5, the nics i thought would be 10 but there only 6 and ive ditched the royal whiptails which would have been £38 for a lima shovel nose thats only £24 so quite a bit cheaper than i thought.

how about a hanging light that you could hang off the ceiling and then you could go for a very simple and cheap plexi lid.

I did think about that but i think it will be just as easy and look nicer to make a wooden one. It wont be hard i just need to get the stuff.

Re: Its here. All 150G of it.
IOm going to leave out the Nicaragua Cichlid as they do best at higher ph so wouldnt get on to well with all the wood that makes the ph drop.
so plan is just to leave it at
2 gold sevs
5 redhead tapajo geophagus
3 bns plus fry
1 black ghost knife fish
1 lima shovelnose
Ill leave it at that for now and can always add something else later on. So its only going to come to about £75 for all the fish.

Re: Its here. All 150G of it.
Im having second thoughts about the lima they are absolutely stunning fish that ive wanted or ages but the problems is it will just destroy any fry that are in the tank it should be fine with the bigger fish but anything that can fit in its mouth is going in its mouth. Im going to leave that till last and if not i might go for 3-4 pictus instead.

Re: Its here. All 150G of it.
Im going to replace the Nicaragua Cichlid with a Aequidens diadema or Aequidens latifrons/platinum acara.
So all together
2 gold sevs
5 redhead tapajo geophagus
3 bns plus fry
1 black ghost knife fish
1 Aequidens diadema or Aequidens latifrons
1 lima shovel nose or 4 pictus or 4 whiptail catfish

Re: Its here. All 150G of it.
Im going to get 4 Festivum cichlids and wait for 2 to pair . And im stuck between Aequidens latifrons
or
Aequidens metae
or
Cichlasoma portalegrense
But im really tempted by most of the aequidens there a great looking family.

Re: Its here. All 150G of it.
Ive had another change of mind haha. Im going to drop the limas because they do best in pairs or groups and ive had mixed opinions on whether they will be fine in my tank long term. And im going to drop the BGK because agin i think it might be pushing my luck size wise.
Im going to go for
2 sevs
2 festiveums
5 redhead tapajo geophagus
pair of Aequidens latifrons or Aequidens metae or F1 Aequidens sp. peru
3 bns plus fry
1 banjo catfish
4 filamentosa or Sturisoma festivum
3 pictus
8 emperor tetra or ameca splendens
There hasnt been much progress tank wise. Ive go a pair of fluval E 300W heater but thats about it. And instead of just making a lid im going to make a plywood case around the back and sides of the tank to help insulate it.

I'm going to temporarily hijack your thread so I can ask your advice Kiz!
I'm thinking of getting a new tank for my birthday in November. I just want it for 2 dwarf puffers really. I've been looking at this one on the Pets At Home website. Does the 60 mean 60 litres? The link is below! Thanks pet!

Thats fine. I did a bit of googling and yeah its 60L its 60x30x35cm. In a tank that size you could have 4 puffers. I wouldnt go for that tank though if im honest it seems quite expensive, the filters arent great and dwarf puffers are very messy and that filter wouldnt cope and alot of people have problems with the elite heaters blowing up and frying the tank.

I was going to use the filter and heater in my current 9g and keep the others for spares?
