stocking

Post by elliriyanna on Fri Sep 17, 2010 4:16 am

I am considering setting up another ten gallon aquarium and was wondering if my stocking ideas would be ok

Female betta
6 neon tetras
4 panda corys
3 crystal red shrimp

I checked a stocking calculator and it says its fine but I was wondering about personal opinions

also are there any really low maintenance aquarium grasses?

Or any other plants? I plan on having anacharis, java fern, and java moss

I woul up the corys to 6 pandas do alot beter in bigger groups. I think a bigger groups of shrimp would be fine aswell as they dont make much waste.

IMO no aslong as you have good filtration. Although i would go for 6 pygmy corys instead of pandas because pandas could do with a slightly bigger tank IMO.
So
Female betta
6 neon tetras
6 pygmy corys
5 crystal red shrimp

Its very hard to get ahold of pygmys around here and this is going to be a very colorful tank so the pandas would look much better. Are there any bright bottomfeeders I could use instead?

Also what filter would you recommend? I'm going to get a 10 gallon starter kit.

Fair enough. I cant think of any bottom dwellers more colourful than a cory that would work in a 10G.
I would go for a fluval 1 plus they do about 200lph so you should get a 5x turnever which should be fine as any more and the betta might not like it.

I would recommend atleast a 20G it can work in a 10G but thats only if your lucky and get extremely calm females. I had 9 in a 30G and they would just fight none stop so i wouldnt go for much smaller.
