divider?

Post by liz2 on Mon Sep 20, 2010 7:58 pm

Has anyone bought one of these trays from the 99p shop? Supposed to be for cooking chips etc. But, I think it would make a super divider, or cover for a tank...easy to cut and very durable..

What's it made from? Any teflon and it's a definite no-no.

I certainly agree with Time-Out. We throw our pots and pans out if they show to
many scratches as the coatings will start flaking off. Not desirable!

Not sure if I'd use metal as a divider (rust etc), but it looks ok for a temp lid for a tank

If you would like to make your own divider it is probably best to do it this way:

Go to any craft store, fabric store, or the craft section in a variety store like Walmart and look for 10-inch by 12-inch clear plastic mesh sheets called Plastic Canvas. These are used for needle point pictures. The mesh is much more open than the tank dividers so water and debris can more easily circulate. The material cuts easily with a scissors. Then get some document binders, the plastic kind you use to slide down the side of a wad of paper at the margin to hold it together, and slide these down all 4 sides of the plastic mesh (trimming to size) of course you will need to be very careful of gaps as always!

Hope this makes some sense!

I saw one in the £1 shop today, it's some sort of heatproof plastic fibre.
