Akysis prashadi
Well ive now got 5 and there all in a 10G which will be upgraded once i get the 150G set up. Theres no heater as they do best at 16-20 and the tank has 25x turnover a hour because they need fast moving well. oxygenated water.
Ill get some pics of the tank later once the sand has settled but it doesnt have a light so it wont be to good. Heres some of the new fish anyway

I do plan on upgrading them to a 15G with a light sooner rather than later and getting a proper power head rather than the top of a old fluval filter.

Looks good! Do they hide a lot or are they quite active?

Re: Akysis prashadi
They spend most of the time buried in the sand but hopefully since i have a group once the settle in they should come out more.

Well these are going to go into a 15G once i get all the bits for it. Hopefully ill be able to find a small shoaling fish to go in there aswell. I really like barilius dogarsinghi but doubt ill be able to find any.

Wow yeah there's a big difference. will the different types live as a group or do they "know" one is different? they look really cool though

Re: Akysis prashadi
They dont really shoal as such so it shouldn't be a problem. I just want more they still have about 5 at the lfs and they where only £2. Im really getting into them now and want to set up a fairly big Asian riverine tank.

Re: Akysis prashadi
It seems to me someone I know is getting sidetracked from their original
destiny! Hahaha! Nice looking catfish though!
I priced a brand new 55gl. tank kit w/hood & lights. Comes with a heater and
a Penguin 330 Bio-wheel filter for $165. including sales tax! Now I can use
this for bargaining power! lol!

Re: Akysis prashadi
well they should be going in the 15G soon. im going to insulate it and put it out in the garage under the 150G so i have a mini fish room out there lol.
equipment
25w heater (set at 20 just to be on the safe side so it doesnt get to cold)
500LPH hang on filter im thinking of getting this one only £10 [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
600LPH power head im thinking of getting this one [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
So there will be about 20X turnover which is perfect for them.
Stocking will be
4 Akysis prashadi
1 Akysis longifilis
3 Golden panchax
Now i just have to decide do i go for a rocky set up or lots of wood, caves and floating plants.

Re: Akysis prashadi
haha. Yeah i agree because ive started setting up the 15G aswell haha. I thought even if theres not as much flow as they would like the more room will make up for it. Plus it means i only have to change the filter over when they get here and i didnt have anything planned today so thought i may aswell.

Re: Akysis prashadi
Both. The left hand side of the tank has rocks going around the mach and then the middle and right some spare wood and caves. I do like the rocks but theres so many gaps for left over food and bits to build up they can turn your water terrible quickly and there not the easiest to clean. Ill get some pics once the sand settles.

Re: Akysis prashadi
Well ive been watching it now its set up and i think i might just stick to the equipment i have for now. It doesnt look great but its doing the job and then once i get the 150G set up i can put money towards smaller less bulky equipment but for now i think it will stay like this.

Re: Akysis prashadi
As long as its working its a good idea as it'll take more money for the 150 and its always easier to come up with smaller amounts of money.
Its going to be expensive for the 150 and especially the stocking.
