Good water conditions and a nice varied diet seems to do the trick.

The last one is a young Eliotti cichlid!

I saw some Elongatus today at the local Maidenhead. I believe they were from Tanganyika? Looked very nice:)

I have never kept them but I think they are from lake malawi,
good looking fish as you say but not the easiest to breed!

Ah, perhaps i have the wrong name?? I'm rubbish at remembering latin names lol. I'm sure the ones i saw were from Tanganyika. They were the same shape as the Elongatus, blue/dark blue stripes, and the dorsal fin had a very distinctive bright blue edging.
