Canvas dividers gone!

Post by Nataliey on Sun Nov 14, 2010 2:31 pm

Well after weeks of thought and looking into my 100 litre divided tank (6 sections, with only 2 occupants) i feel its time to change this layout!

So this morning, I did my usual water change and transfered one of the bettas into a different tank of his own and took all the dividers out, oh the releaf of not seeing the ugly discoloured canvas divides (i could never get them clean back to the white they orginally where)

Casper my white HMPK is the lucky boy who is in the 100 litre tank with 3 julii's and one brown male BN, i will be adding more corys and 2 albino BN's that il be getting from MH aquatics.
Il also be adding more silk plants and a bit of wood (Kiz im learning, lol!) and a center piece.

Casper has been swimming about so much i dont think he can believe his luck with how much room he's got to dash about!

Haha. Very nice. Im sure Casper will love the extra room. what about some floating plants just to give some cover near the surface. Amazon frogbit would do the job and looks great once they grow the long roots.

I think it would make a nice little community tank with the betta as the centre piece. A big shoal of Ember tetra would look stunning IMO. Maybe a shoal of Marble hatchets aswell.

Thanks both of you, iv tried the frogbit before it always dies on me but i do love the mini water lettuce and i dont kill that!

I dont know what other fish im going to put in there yet, but the fish that are already in there are enjoying the space...also my male BN in there is losing his spots, is this because he's growing up now? I love their cute spots Sad

My female tho still has her spots.

If it was me i would go for a few shoals of smaller fish so that the betta really stands out. I think the white colour of the betta would really stand out nicely against a big shoal of ember tetra.

Yeah some do loose there spots as they get older but some will always have them. Mine vary so much. Some of them from 1cm long have not spots at all where as others at 3" still have really obvious spots.

Made a slight betta swap too, Casper has swapped homes with the new blue boy, he's so much bigger than Casper and would benefit more room.

Caspers been moved to his own tank now he looked lost in the big wide space, he's loving his new home and looking at his new friend in his neighbouring tank.

The blue boy is dashing about in the bigger tank loving the space and yes his blueness makes him stand out so much against the red gravel il try and get a photo if he'll keep still for a split second!
