Betta toys

Post by SiennaBay on Thu Nov 18, 2010 12:38 am

I bought an iridescent blue bead that's about the size of half a penny. I put it in with my pink veiltail Lotus, and he's playing with it. He is just utterly fascinated with it. He stalks it, bumps it with his nose, lays next to it stares at it. It's like he's thinking "What the heck is that thing!" It is very amusing. He swims away for a little while, and then he goes back to it. My fish are very observant -- they notice anything that's new in their tanks and they check it out. Eventually I will add a bead to all the fish's tanks. Ha ha. I use black gravel so any new goody I put in with it really draws attention.

I was looking on ebay for some toys for my boys and in the US they have this ping pong ball with a small mirror dangling in the water under the ball, apparently for flaring exercises!! Also a small hoop so you can train your betta to swim through it on command...

Iv only seen them on the USA ebay and to get it over here would have cost 3 times as much as the actual ball and mirror!

i have an actual toy for my bettas. it's a small blue glass dolphin attached by fishing line to a small clear glass ball that floats. i like cleaning it and changing who's tank i put it in. they love it, and often flare at it and poke it's eye till they realize it doesn't move. they then prance around the tank all happy. >.> prideful much? lol after that, they pushed the glass float around.

a friend of mine who works at Petco had one in her tank, and i liked it so much, she surprised me with the one i have! my girls seem more interested in it than my boys, but they flare at it a few times before deciding it's more fun to push it around. except Dante. he decided it was a wonderful place to build his bubblenest!
