Shocked Its a Peckoltia sabaji . Ive wanted one for ages but there £40 each around here. What size tank is it in? They grow up to 10" not including tail so probably about 12" all together.
Pepper mint could be Ancistrus dolichopterus which is another fish ive wanted for ages. They cant be kept with BNs as there likely to bully then and could cross breed. They wont do well in a ph over 7 and if you want to breed them you need a ph of about 5 because they come from black water areas.
goldnuggets are very slow eaters so often get bullied out of food they also get big.

He looks more like a golden brown colour at the moment but the lady that helped me said when it gets older and fully grown it should be coloured white with black spots. She said she had one a while back and it grew to around 15cms. Can you tell me how to tell if its a male or female??

Its around 3 inches now, only cost me £20 which is a lot but i couldnt leave without one.

Hmm the white and black spots sounds a bit off. they should keep the colour they have now but the dorsal fin turns red.

Their pretty much impossible to sex until sexually mature and even then its hard to tell without having others to compare them against. The males are smaller and skinnier and also have a thicker longer first spine to the pectoral fins.

Seems a fair price to me. They cost £40 at that size here. Well worth the money IMO.

Thanks the 3rd image looks like what his description was on the tab in the shop maybe she meant paler body to his fins?! who knows but the tab did show a pale white body with golden fins/tail with the black spots.

He's been sat with my male BN again this afternoon been watching them!

Yeah could be, It could also change depending on where they where caught because colour and patterns can vary a little.

I did a bit more reading on them and apparently there quite social plecs with there own and other types aslong as there fairly peaceful aswell.

Now he's settled his colours have changed and his fins are changing colour so beautiful.

Dave id have a tank full of different pleco's if i could i love them so much...i really like the blue phantom but he grows far too big and the zebra pleco all seem to be far too expensive!

If you like Zebras have a look at chocolate zebras. They dont have the stunning white colour but there alot cheaper.

Chocolate zebras sound devine! Im going to look now but it is the black and white stripes that attracts me to the zebra pleco

There stripes are off white and a bit more every where rather than all in line like zebras but then thats why there so much cheaper. Plus they have bigger batches of fry where as normal zebras only have 4-5 eggs at a time.
