Broken Filter

I came back from spring break to find my betta girl with slight ammonia burn and discovered her filter intake no longer takes in water. so i ordered her a little sponge filter. In the mean time i'm doing 25% daily WC's and Feeding her less. is there anything else I should be doing?

Also I know my tank will be thrown into a mini cycle. Will my fish be ok? I have two otocinclus in the tank.
