Breaking Down Tanks To Resart

Post by 2tall on Fri Jun 17, 2011 5:52 pm

Since I've had a bad run on loosing my Bettas; 4 males, 1 female and soon to be a 5th male I need to
clean some tanks. Is there any way to save the filters or should I just start over with the fishless cycles?

I was running under gravel systems along with power heads and will be removing those(U/G's) as well
as the gravel to hopefully improve conditions in the future. I'm considering dividing the 10gl. tanks with
glass with a heater on each side and foregoing filters at all. Then just stick to a rigorous frequent w/c schedule.

Any suggestions before I tear down the tanks would be appreciated.

Gosh sorry I cant help. I am afraid I do everything not by the book, no filters, no systems, just small water changes once a week and then total about once a month. I dont use gravel just the big glass pebbles......sure someone will be along soon with better advice
