Fry love hanging around in the roots of floating plants, so maybe frogbit, duckweed or water lettuce :D
Also Riccia is pretty nice for them :D

Hiya
Riccia is a planted plant:) Java fern is good too :D It branches off new shoots which have little root systems. You can either just leave them or pinch the new shoots off and replant :D

Depends on the LFS and what they get in with their orders. Riccia and Java fern should be available at most, but Water lettuce you may find at a pond supply store.

if you want a nice range of plants with free postage then look at my website www.dpfishways.co.uk. I'm getting them on as fast as i can so you may have to bare with me on some, but if you see something you like the look of and the profile isnt finished or available to buy them just prompt me to update that one to be viewable. This will be an ongoing thing on our website. weve started to move them over to our website with about a 12 million % increase on available items LMAO prob not 12 million but it feels like it lol
The limnophila aquatica is awesome for young fry and also the limnopila sess which is on the same page. these 2 are our best sellers for fry.
Delivery can be up to 10 days but most we have in stock already, we are just stating this to aid with getting orders out as its impossible to dispatch daily as between ebay and website sales it can be a nightmare and some stock needs to be purchaed from singapore as well as they are more rarer of varieties.

Riccia takes a lot of light to look really nice and green if it's in a tank of any real depth, I find. Sad Looks nice if you let it float at the top though. One of the best is java moss, you can keep that stuff in super low light and it still looks nice and green, denitrifies the water well, and can be floated or tied to decor. Hornwort and cabomba are good too, I like hornwort because it takes very little light, but they both do this really annoying thing where they shed fronds all over the place and stick to your filter media. Keep them pruned and they're easy to clean up, though. Argentine swords are great too, mine are always green, and my lights are terrible, lol. They stay the perfect size, too. Needs very little pruning, if any.

Re: Plants

Well as it happens Ive ordered 30 bunches to arrive on tuesday. I used a bunch of this in with my platy tank and its growing really well. It does come in as green with a purplish under colour and once established it starts to colour up, mine is just starting to change colour now. The key to this is the nitrate levels and lighting, the higher the light the better the colour and the lower nitrate levels. gunna do good water change and gravel vac today to change the nitrate elevl to see what happens. I gotta say that I prefer it to the caroliniana as the actually leaf on the stems are thicker and look far more attractive. my platy demolished the caroliniana but have left this one alone.

Also remember that if not in stock we order plants weekly and most turn up anyway.
