using dividers

Post by tropical girl on Fri Jul 17, 2009 10:38 am

hi all,
ive just been reading the thread on using dividers,
ok guess really im answering my own question but,
i got the divider and some suction pads now ive come
to change it all around i can see that the suction pads are no good
as there is a gap and you know these little fishes have a knack of finding them! Rolling Eyes
so can i just put the divider in and use the gravel as the holder so to speak?
i did say to my o/h should we silicone it but he said,you will have to drain all the tank
and then have to leave it for days to dry or set??
not a prob as such to drain it but think my fish (2) will be here next week early?
and i dont have anywhere to put them now!! No
any ideas here please
the tank is 2ft being split in half if that helps???

I set the dividers in place, tape up the edges, silicon the seams and smoothly tool the silicon. I then wait till the silicon is particaialy dry, but not cured and then peal the tape up and away at an angle. I found if I left the tape on too long and then ripped it off it pulled the silicon out of the seams. if there are any silicon smudges I wait till the silicon has fully cured and take brand new razor blade and scrape it off.

also curing silicon stinks badly, dont use it in a very closed up room or stick your face too close to the tank and take a breath.

I mean a straight flat razor blade, the ones used in box cutters. they have more straight cutting surface them other blades.
