Struck up a deal!

Struck up a deal!
Took some of my husbands endlers to our lfs this afternoon and had a deal with the manager. He knows i'm mad about bettas and also knew about albert dying so when i went in today he was being extra nice! I had a quick check on the bettas and saw a ct with what i think is a swim bladder problem so asked the manager if i could have him. He said yes so i asked if when they get any in with problems, as they are short staffed, whether they would let me take them home to nurse them back to health then return them to be sold. He agreed!!! If i had room i'd keep them however with babies getting bigger and getting banned from buying any more tanks by hubby it's hard. This way i help out and get to spend time with some great bettas! If i thought they would be sold to careless people i would not have offered to do this, but i know the staff and they always make sure people are educated in their care before selling to them.
Anyway the little boy i bought home today is a red and blue ct and is not a happy chappy. He can swim but when he stops he just floats on his side to the top. He's eaten since i've had him and seems happy enough swimming about, he just looks so sad when he stops! Will get some pics tomorrow, if anyone could suggest how to treat him that would be ace!
The manager is also getting some imports in the next couple of weeks so i'm all excited!! He has now nicknamed me 'the betta whisperer' :D

Good luck with it Crystal.....at least people would stand a better chance of buying a healthy betta

Sorry to hear about poor Albert, he was such a looker. Can't wait to see pics of your new boy.
I'd be really careful about feeding him since sbd can be a recurring problem in certain fish.. I got a CT with sbd after a rescue died of dropsy, and though he recovered fully from the initial bloat, he has a much higher tendency to bloat than all my other fish, so I'd be extra conscious of belly size and feeding schedule. He was a floater too, and it really stressed him out to be stuck that way, but after I floated some IAL and water lettuce in there, he sort of got underneath it and seemed to calm down. It might help if you float a real/silk/IAL leaf in there, or cut up a bit of a paper plate, that works well too. Good luck with him!

Thanks. I have frogbit and duckweed in all my tanks. He actually came to the front this morning to say hi!
Re: Struck up a deal!
Here are a few pics of my little rescue boy, he's a bit camera shy so i apologize for his lack of participation!

He is meant to be ct but his tail is really weird, but he's swimming a bit better now and can sort of hold himself upright, in a fashion.

Awwww bless him. Good luck with getting him back to full health Crystal. Hopefully in a few weeks time he'll be looking like he should again
